BARNEY OLDFIELD'S RACE FOR A LIFE (1913) Another heart-stopping action comedy featuring Mabel Normand and the Keystone Kops.
Music by
Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

Feature

CITY LIGHTS (1931) - One of the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest Movies of All Time, this is also arguably Charlie Chaplin's greatest feature film. Featuring Virginia Cherrill. "Eloquently moving and funny" - Leonard Maltin
Music by Charles Chaplin (Soundtrack)

Saturday - Feb. 24, 2001

Morning - 10 am to Noon Introductions - Denise Morrison

Shorts

FELIX IN HOLLYWOOD (1922) - Before Mickey Mouse became a star for Walt Disney, the biggest star in the cartoon world was a cat named Felix, created by Pat Sullivan. Loved by kings and queens and better known than most movie stars, here Felix meets his peers (Charlie Ï Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and Cecil B. DeMille).
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

PERILS OF PAULINE - Chapter One - (1914) "Through Air and Fire" - The title says it all. This is Chapter One of one of the earliest movie serials ever created. With Pearl White either hanging from a cliff or tied to the railroad tracks, doing what else? Screaming!
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

A CORNER IN WHEAT - (1909) One of D.W. Griffith's best early short films, this one tells the story of how corporate greed claims a heavy toll on the farmers and their families.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

Feature

BLIND HUSBANDS (1919) - An early feature directed by Ï the Man You Love to Hate, Erich von Stroheim. A moralistic story as only von Stroheim could tell Ï it.

(Lunch Break)

Afternoon - 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Introductions - Denise Morrison

Short

THE BLACKSMITH (1922) - Another short comedy classic Ï from the Great Stone Face, Buster Keaton.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

Feature

SUDS (1920) - The delightful Mary Pickford stars in a change of pace role as a laundress who longs for a handsome young man to return to pick up his clean shirt.
This restored edition (being readied for video release) will feature a world premiere music score by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.

(Break)

Feature

BLOOD AND SAND (1922) - The legendary Rudolph Valentino stars as a bullfighter caught between two beautiful women - one good, one wicked. The bullfighting scenes are still considered quite impressive. This film was a big hit, too.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

Shorts

MUD AND SAND (1923) - Stan Laurel stars as champion romancer, Rhubarb Vaselino in this hilarious send up of (you guessed it) BLOOD AND SAND.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

PUSS AND BOOTS (1922) - A very early Walt Disney cartoon with many connections to the previous Valentino feature.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

(Dinner Break)

Evening - 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Introductions - Denise Morrison

Shorts

LEAVE 'EM LAUGHING - (1928) A Laurel and Hardy gem with the boys going to the dentist's office where the laughing gas gets left on and the boys head out in traffic for a frollicking good time!
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

IT'S A GIFT (1923) - Snub Pollard, a diminutive comedian with a droopy moustache shows off his prowess as an inventor of useless gadgets.
Music by Dr. Marvin Faulwell

Feature

BEAU GESTE (1926) - An epic adventure about three devoted brothers fighting in the French Foreign Legion, featuring Ronald Coleman. It was remade scene-for-scene for a 1939 remake with Gary Cooper--which couldn't top this!
Music by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
